Nexus

There are many branching patterns that can be found in nature that seem to share a similarity. For example: cardiovascular systems, tree branches and roots, river deltas or neural connections. These recurring patterns have always fascinated me. They symbolize growing, interconnectivity, and somehow life itself. Lately I’ve been particularly interested in fungi and mycelia networks.

According to scientist Merlin Sheldrake, the mycelium can be seen as the tissue that holds together much of the world, as a body with no fixed shape. The shape of mycelium can be compared to the shape of water.

The Nexus Series can be seen as organic shapes, referring to both the human body, landscapes and intuitive growth of mycelia networks, that are known for spreading out in different directions all at once.
